Cath’s Country Diary Posts for week ending 6th May

Three words can define this past week on the farm: Birds; Rain and Goats.

The Young Guineas went free range with the rest of the flock, Benita got taken by a fox, the flock looked after Billie and taught her some less0ns.  I got pictures of a variety of birds ranging from a scuba diving duck, to some shy weebills with a couple of yellow birds in between.

We got our biggest rainfall of the year, which I watched approaching on the rain radar, which also clearly showed the rain shadow effect we experience here giving us about 30% less rain than areas to our north and south.

But the most exciting thing was bringing home our 2 new goats after 18 months of planning and 2 months of preparation and getting to know them.
